Sugar Storage Tanks Upgrade – Leading Beverage Manufacturer, Auckland ($1M)
A leading beverage manufacturer in Auckland recently completed a $1 million project to upgrade their sugar storage infrastructure. This critical project involved enhancing three sugar storage tanks to meet stringent hygiene standards. The upgrades focused on improving air quality and automating control systems to ensure the highest level of operational efficiency and quality.
Project Highlights
-
Enhanced Hygiene
Advanced filtered forced air systems were installed to significantly improve hygiene in the tanks’ headspace, meeting the client's high standards.
-
Sophisticated Air Filtration
A new air filtration system was designed, incorporating mesh, HEPA filters, and UV treatment to eliminate contaminants before air enters the tanks.
-
Automated Control System
Fully automated systems were implemented to maintain Critical Control Points (CCP), ensuring precise control over storage conditions and boosting operational efficiency.
Outcome:
The project addressed critical hygiene and compliance risks identified in a PepsiCo Quality Audit by installing UV-treated, HEPA-filtered air systems across three key sugar tanks.
In addition to improving air quality and reducing contamination risk, the upgrade included the construction of a bund around Tank 14 to meet ISO14001 environmental standards and WorkSafe hazardous substance requirements.
Despite working within a constrained batching system and active production environment, the project was delivered with zero impact to operations.
The result: enhanced food safety, environmental compliance, and operational reliability ahead of future site master plan changes.
