Roofing Replacement Project
Overview
TPG Projects recently undertook "Factory Roofing Stage 4" as part of a long-term maintenance program to replace fatigued roof sections over the Ferrum line. Previous stages addressed other sections, with this stage focusing on Section 4, which faced structural and safety challenges due to aging materials, leaks, and inadequate safety features.
Project Scope
The project involved the installation of new roofing materials, safety nets, skylights, and internal gutter repairs. Additionally, any rusted purlins and redundant components were removed to ensure a safer and more durable roofing structure. Specialized scaffolding and cranes were used for safe and efficient material handling and installation.
Key Benefits
-
Enhanced Safety
Installation of safety mesh and secure skylights reduces health and safety risks from a high (19) to a low (C9).
-
Improved Quality
Elimination of leaks and structural weaknesses, minimizing the potential for production disruptions.
-
Operational Efficiency
Extended roof lifespan with minimal future repairs, lowering overall maintenance requirements.
Outcome:
TPG successfully completed Stage 4 of a long-term roofing maintenance program at a major beverage manufacturing facility. This project focused on replacing fatigued roof sections to address aging materials, leaks, and safety hazards across a key production area.
The work included installation of new roofing sheets, skylights, safety mesh, and internal gutter repairs. Redundant components were removed, and any rusted purlins were replaced. The project was executed using specialised scaffolding and cranes to ensure safe, efficient delivery during a scheduled site shutdown.
The result is a safer, more resilient roofing structure that improves operational reliability and supports ongoing compliance with workplace safety standards.
